Use your domain or subdomain with all your LISTSERV® Lists!
A free domain is included with your WebHelps account. During signup, you will choose how to use your free domain. You may select to use it with your LISTSERV® Lists and the usual setup fee will be waived. IMPORTANT. The information on this page applies only to using a domain or subdomain other than the free domain or a transferred domain.
You may use your domain with all your LISTSERV® lists. If you elect to archive list emails, the URL (link) to your LISTSERV® List Archives will use also use your domain.
Unlike most companies offering this service, we charge only a one-time setup fee of $10.00 (rather than an ongoing fee). And this fee is waived if using your free domain or a transferred domain.
YOUR INSTRUCTIONS
OPTION A: You *must* follow steps 1-3 below, if your domain (e.g. yourdomain.com) is being used in any way (e.g. a website or email). If your domain is NOT in use, you may use either Option A or Option B.
1. Contact your domain host's support department (usually where you registered your domain), or use the online domain management forms (Domain Manager) provided by your domain host.
2. Create a subdomain, such as lists.yourdomain.com, discuss.yourdomain.com, or newsletter.yourdomain.com. You may not use: listerv.yourdomain.com or listserve.yourdomain.com, as the word "listserv" is a registered trademark owned by LSoft.
3. Point the subdomain's hostname A Record to 174.141.229.14.
4. Create an MX Record for the new subdomain, with listserv.nethelps.com as the Target.
NOTE: This is the most common method for using your domain with your lists.
OPTION B: If your domain is NOT in use, you may follow Steps 1-3 below, or use Option A above, as you prefer:
1. Contact your domain host's support department (usually where you registered your domain), or use the online domain management forms (Domain Manager) provided by your domain host.
2. Point the domain's A Record to 174.141.229.14.
3. Create an MX Record for your domain, with listserv.nethelps.com as the Target.
Note: Eudora users will not be able to send mail to the list using your domain/subdomain, unless they disable the SMTP check Eudora performs prior to sending an email [instructions.
We must manually setup your domain/subdomain on the LISTSERV® server. Although your list(s) can be immediately used with any of the default domains, please plan on waiting 24 hours before you can use your domain/subdomain with your list(s). Custom domain orders are completed in the order received. If you require expedited service, please submit a Help Ticket explaining your need. You may create your LISTSERV® List prior to receiving confirmation from the LISTSERV® Administrator that your domain/subdomain has been setup on our servers. The list can be configured to use your domain/subdomain at any time.
To easily check to make sure your domain/subdomain is pointed correctly to the LISTSERV Server, go to Network-Tools.com, and perform a DNS query.
